We would like to take this moment to recognize the efforts put
forth by our interns Marisa Bunney, Valerie Rastetter, Kristen
Saumell, Arturo Fajardo and Taylor Patchen. They all quickly became
part of our family, and their hard work was evident in both our
creative, and account management efforts. Here is some of the
experience they gained in their own words --

Marisa Bunney
"Social media is social, not media."
Growing up in the trenches of a Technological Revolution, social
media is second nature. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, YouTube
- these are some of the social media rock stars. This is my third
year interning as a copywriter at Ronin. So, when the opportunity
arose to integrate social media into my work, I jumped at the
chance. Evident in case study after case study, social media has
the power to reach billions of people as a truly global
market.
The Last Word is the center of the Miami-Dade Expressway
Authority's latest safety initiative. We launched the campaign
virally through social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter,
Flickr, and YouTube. Each portal drives traffic to the campaign
website, where users can make the pledge to not text and drive and
view the compelling short film that is the true pulse of the
campaign.
The advancement of computers, iPads, and smartphones, has broken
all boundaries of communication, placing the social media sphere at
our fingertips. As a marketing strategy, social media is arguably
the most efficient way to reach your audience. A soon-to-be college
graduate, learning how to utilize social media in the advertising
industry is a highly relevant skill. At Ronin, we understand that
the magic of social media lives in the social aspect: creating
conversation and making connections.
Arturo Fajardo
As a 3rd year student in graphic design, my internship with Ronin
has proved to be a great benefit in my career development. The
internship gave me immediate exposure to the field as a
contributing member to their creative team. Working under the
guidance of industry veterans, I was able to greatly improve my
skills and knowledge as a designer. Ronin provides a fun
environment where you can grow creatively and professionally in the
industry.
Gracias!!

I recently was an intern at Ronin Advertising Group at the Miami
office. My favorite project that I worked on this summer was
helping out with the client Miami Dade Expressway. By going into
the meetings and learning what the client wants from us as an
advertising group, it became easier for me to fill out correction
forms and come up with ideas to for the client. It was a very
beneficial experience being able to work so close with the client,
and having an input in what decisions that Ronin makes to improve
relations and advertising campaigns. I would recommend this
experience to any college students, being able to work with all of
the different staff members in the office, getting the full grasp
of the advertising business, and the logistics of the company.
Valerie Rastetter
The project I worked the most on over the summer was the
college-scouting program for recruiting future Ronin interns, new
hires and just to build lasting relationships with the local
colleges. Kristen and myself researched local colleges in our
respective cities to find which matched Ronin's intern and new hire
needs the best, we limited the choices down to five in the
Pittsburgh area and five in the Miami area and contacted a reliable
professor from each school. Seeing this project the entire way
through to when I finally received excited and willing responses
from professors was a great way to experience a project from start
to finish. Along with that project, I wrote over 30 or 40 job
briefs through the span of the summer. My job brief writing skills
improved dramatically and it is now a skill I can take with me and
improve throughout my career. Ronin was a great internship
experience and I am very excited about the experience and skills I
have gained over the summer!
Kristen Saumell
I truly enjoyed interning at Ronin. Working in the agency
environment allowed me to really get a grasp on the inner workings
of advertising and understand clients inside and out. I worked on
every aspect of account services, but a favorite project of mine
would definitely be City Palms. My first week working was actually
in West Palm Beach at a photo shoot. I was able to be involved in
something really neat that most interns would never experience.
There, I was able to meet the client and become familiar with the
building. From then on I felt more comfortable working with City
Palms and getting an idea of what they wanted Ronin to create. Even
though I got to know City Palms the best, I did appreciate working
with all of Ronin and our clients. I will always keep Ronin and
what I learned here in mind for my future studies.
